he Great Wall of China was built thousands of years ago. It was used to defend against enemies. The
Great Wall stretches for 2980 km, from the city of Shanhaiguan in the east of China to the city of
Jaiyuguan in the west of China. As it is long and thin, it has a beautiful name, “The Sleeping Dragon”.
Legend has it that “Whoever prays to the Dragon sincerely, his/her wishes will come true”.

In Hong Kong, a kind, lovely and helpful girl called Natalie heard about the Chinese legend from
her father. As she was only a little girl, she just treated it as a tale.

In 2013, some astronomers predicted that a small asteroid would hit the Earth in less than 50 years. The
name of the asteroid was “1999 AN10”. Some astronomers estimated that 1.5 billion people would die if the
asteroid hit the Earth. A terrible “Nuclear Winter” would come and the weather would become extremely cold
for 20 to 30 years.
Time flew and it was 2045. People lived sadly as they knew the asteroid would come very soon. Everyone
was afraid. They lost hope and cried every day. They were living without love and waiting to die.
Natalie was a mother of four children in 2045. They were frightened, worried and sad because of the
prediction. Natalie was very upset about it. At that moment, she remembered “The Legend of the Sleeping
Dragon”. She believed that only the Dragon can save the whole world, so she told this legend to all her friends
and asked them to pray together. To let more people know about this legend, Natalie posted it on the Internet.
Soon, the Internet spread this legend throughout the world. Many people around the world prayed together.
They all wanted the Dragon to save the world, so they prayed sincerely every day.
At last, the Sleeping Dragon was awakened by the prayers of the whole world. The Great Wall, the Sleeping
Dragon of China, became a real dragon! It flew into space and kicked the asteroid away from the Earth. The
Earth was saved. Happiness came to the world again. Everyone thanked the Sleeping Dragon, the Great Wall.
Since then, Natalie and her family lived happily ever after.
